I'm Becca, a researcher and community practitioner based in Wigan. I work with small, grassroots community organisations to help them capture the real views and experiences of the people they work with, and turn that into evidence they can actually use: for funding bids, reports, or making the case to the people who need to hear it.

What I do
Incredible work happens every day in communities. I help you prove it, in a way that's honest, rigorous, and actually useful to you.
Listening and research
I come into your community and listen properly. Through interviews, conversations, and participatory methods, I help you capture the real views and experiences of the people you work with, not a sanitised version of them.
Co-production
Proper co-production, not tick-box consultation. The people you work with help shape what gets asked, how it gets asked, and what happens with the answers. Their knowledge drives the process.
Evidence you can use
I give the evidence shape and structure, then reflect it back in a way that works for your community first, and for funders or commissioners second. Reports, summaries, case studies: whatever is most useful.
Funding bid writing
I help organisations translate their evidence and community work into strong, credible funding bids, making sure the methodology and evaluation sections reflect the depth and rigour of what you actually do.

Small organisations doing big things
I work best with small, grassroots community organisations: the kind of groups that are doing genuinely important work, but don't always have the language, evidence, or confidence to show the wider world what they're achieving.
Maybe you're applying for funding and need to demonstrate impact. Maybe a funder or local authority wants evidence you're not sure how to gather. Maybe you just want to understand, properly, what difference your work is making to the people involved.
That's where I come in. I don't parachute in as an outside expert. I sit with you, listen to the people you work with, and help you build something honest and useful from what they say.

About me
About Becca
I'm based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. I've spent the last decade working in community-led research and co-production across the North West, not as a consultant who comes in, does the work, and leaves, but as someone who builds real relationships with the communities I work with.
My research background spans qualitative and mixed methods social research, health and public health research, and historical and archival research. I have an MSc in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine and a PhD (passed viva, minor corrections in progress) in qualitative research. I've recently moved into freelance work, and I'm actively looking to take on projects where I can bring that experience to bear. When you work with me, you work with me: one person, fully committed to your project.
My own experience as an autistic person, a parent carer, and a disabled person also shapes how I approach inclusive and accessible research practice.

Parent Carer Research Network
The Parent Carer Research Network is a separate project I run alongside my freelance work. It connects parent carers with researchers so that parent carer voices are properly heard in research that concerns them. It sits under my umbrella but operates independently.
